About the project

A beautifully shot film, full of dramatic landscapes and slow-motion shots. The sound design is textured and deep to match the grade. You can hear that clearly around 27 seconds, where the dust blends into the waves through a mix of frequencies, and the waves are pushed through distortion and clipping as they peak.

My favourite transition is around 33 seconds, as we hit golden hour. There’s a lot of movement to go with the light, and the sound turns warm, deep and calm. Around 43 seconds, as the resins are mixed, the sound and textures change to match the new look.

The voiceover is the founder’s own, recorded as a phone voice note. Rather than trying to polish it, we leaned into its lo-fi quality. Subtle reverse reverb, reverb and flanger give it movement, so it flows in and out like the ocean.
