About the project

A high-energy film that needed sound with the same energy. A player goes from the quiet of their living room straight into the chaos of a match, and back again.

Krafton supplied the game’s own assets, which we were required to use and enjoyed working with, so every weapon sound comes from the game itself. Around that, we re-recorded all of the cloth Foley and added every breath and voice.

The trickiest and most fun part was the almost paranormal transition from the living room into the drop. In a very short space it needed pace, depth, variety and texture, and the camera moves let us lean on the stereo field to keep it moving. Later, the near-silence as the parachute opens and the player approaches the window is true to the moment, but it also builds tension that the glass smash breaks perfectly. A personal favourite is the slow-motion shot of the shell casings dropping.
