About the project
Rolex’s film for the Deepsea Challenge, the diver’s watch built for the bottom of the Mariana Trench, plunges from a swirling ocean surface into the dark, through glowing titanium, to the crown up close.
The mix here is different: more restrained and more considered, to match the brand. The opening still needed real scale and power from the sea. Once the film moves into materials and manufacturing, the sound becomes understated, letting the picture and the music arrangement lead while staying full enough never to feel empty.
A favourite moment is the two submarine pass-bys. Each was designed for its era and machinery: the older vessel has a big, deep mechanical motor, while the modern one carries the more technical hum of many smaller propellers.
