A fantastic film from Joseph Mann, all shot in camera with no VFX. A tired grey kitchen is blasted apart by clouds of coloured powder before reforming as a bright new Cuisinella kitchen.

I approached this one slightly differently, splitting the sound effects into low, mid and high groups, which gave me the freedom to shape and process each frequency band on its own terms. The lows are powerful, rounded, deep and dry. The mids are crunchy, with a lot of transient work. The highs are bright, detailed and drenched in reverb.

I used Soundtoys SpaceBlender a lot, playing it live against the camera so the space moved with each pan and with the camera’s speed-ups and slow-downs. It worked really well, and it’s a technique I’ll keep in the locker for future jobs.
